Here, you will find a list of all updates and notices related to the Emporium. In the future, as I manage to weasel my little freelancer way onto more industry press-release lists, this limited information may be joined by occasional game-related tidbits.

For comprehensive gaming news, please check one of the many fabulous websites devoted to the subject. A partial list is provided on the Links page.

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: Site closed
As some of you may know, I recently accepted a full-time editing job for Computer Games Magazine. This has, not surprisingly, eaten every scrap of my free time, and will no doubt continue to do so for months to come. As a result, there will be no more updates to the Talemonger's Emporium, although I will leave the site up for the sake of archival.

Of course, the practical upshot of this change is that my weekly ranting and general chatter will simply be moving to Computer Games, so please stop by http://www.cdmag.com/ often and read my reviews, previews, and columns! It'll make me feel all wanted and stuff.

Thanks again to everyone who has visited the Emporium in the past, and my best wishes to you all!

10/21/99: Welcome Home!
The Talemonger's Emporium has, at long last, returned to the stream in which it was spawned -- Seattle ISP Speakeasy.net. Six months ago, I was lured away to Earthlink with promises of inexpensive hosting rates and national access. Now, a much sadder and wiser human being, I offer these words of advice to any who would think of following in my footsteps:

Bugger that.

Leaving aside the repeated disconnects, busy signals, and outages, forgetting for a moment the half-hour Tech Support hold times and the fact that they never did get my laptop modem to connect with any of their Milwaukee lines when I was desperately trying to upload my daily reports from GenCon, and even overlooking the fact that I never once received a monthly receipt for their service, which played hell with my bookkeeping, the Earthlink dial-up and domain hosting turned out to be 1/3 again the cost of a similar package at Speakeasy. I may have failed Calculus, but I can still add.

This, of course, is merely a convoluted way of saying that the site is back up and running, and will soon be updated with spiffy new stuff. Thanks to all the "regulars" who've stuck around during the slack time and the transition, and be sure to go visit the Developer Q&A in its new weekly venue on Computer Games Online! spacer
